5 Tips to Stay Consistent in 2025

The number 1 reason why most people do not see results on their health and fitness journey is because they lack consistency.
Here are 5 simple tips that will help you stay consistent in 2025 and beyond.
Set realistic goals
Don't try and go from 0 to 100 overnight. If your tendency is to workout once every 4 weeks, setting a goal of working out 6 days a week is a far stretch. A more realistic goal that will also help you see results, is to start with 3 days per week. Start with forms of movement that you enjoy and start with something that will fit easily into your daily schedule. For example, 15 minute workouts or a leisurely walk.
Sharpie yourself in
Instead of penciling yourself in or praying that you'll find time in your day for a workout, schedule it. Put it in your calendar, set a google reminder, do whatever you have to do to make sure you are a priority in your life. When the school schedules a meeting, when the doctor schedules your next appointment, when your in-laws are coming into town, you make the time to be available. Yet when it comes our own health, we are the first to stand ourselves up. Put your weekly workouts in your calendar and again, make sure the length of your workout is realistic for your life (i.e. 15 minute workouts.)
Track non-scale victories
There are so many ways to tell if you are making progress in your health and fitness journey that do not include the pesky scale. Here are a few examples: track the amount of workouts that you do, rate how easy or challenging it is to do every day tasks like walking up a flight of stairs, notice how your clothes are fitting, take note of your daily energy levels, etc.
Romanticize the journey
Rather than looking at your health journey as a chore, make it more fun and seductive. Listen to a spicy audiobook while you workout, curate your own workout playlists, take a few minutes to set the mood for your meals (candles, a nice plate, a small vase of wildflowers), decorate your water bottle, look at your workouts as a daily date with yourself, have more fun in the kitchen (pour yourself a fancy glass of sparking water and turn on your favorite tunes as you cook a simple yet delicious meal using seasonal ingredients).
Embrace community
Staying consistent is a lot easier when you know you are not doing it alone. Find an IRL accountability buddy that will workout with you. Gather a group of friends for a healthy potluck meal followed by an evening walk once per month. Join a gym with your partner and make a date out of it each week. Or my very favorite tip, join a virtual community like Bloom Flourish Fitness. We are stronger together!
Sam's Corner
On December 30 I started saving $1 for every BFF workout that I do and as of Friday January 3, I have saved $10! This is a fun way to visually see how your daily habits add up over time. You don't have to be extreme to see results, you just have to be consistent. I'm excited to be doing this alongside some of the members of BFF as well. Like I said, we are stronger together.
